Its Never fair

Its 8:00 am and My mom just called to say that my Dad's best friend passed away last night. His name was Bill Rosen.. he was a professor of economics at Cornell University... Avid animal lover, hiker, nature lover, DOG LOVER, and professional surfer. He was an amazing man and died too young...

He was diagnosed with a Brain tumor this time last year. A once energetic and strong man deteriorated into a man whose body would no longer work for him. He was frusterated and upset.
Last year when I got the Rockette job, my parents were up visiting with him. He called me and said how proud he was of me and that if he could, he would come and see me. I knew that would never happen, but it was in his heart.

I know this is a bunch of rambling, and it probably doesnt make sense, but sometimes its easier to write and cry, then to keep it all in.....

And just for all you uninformed idiots out there who give me shit about why I eat a vegan/organic lifestyle, well I DONT WANT TO GET CANCER... and as terrible as it is.. in 2 of my last 5 posts I have discussed two people who have been taken from this earth... its your choice so YOU DECIDE

Romina's comment just made me step back, calm down, and remember something

no matter how healthy we eat, and no matter how healthy our lives are, genetically, sometimes things cant be stopped... we dont exactly know how they come about either, and even though veganism surely can prevent it, it doesnt mean that it cant happen...

I'm so sorry to hear about your father's best friend. Cancer is scary, once it gets you in, especially brain cancer, there's nothing we can do.

I do agree that veganism is a way to try to avoid it, but we must remember that even the healthiest vegans who are athletic, eat organic and do everything right are still prone to it due to genetics or other factors.

Syn, this post is both devastating (I'm terribly sorry about your father's friend) and insightful (full of amazing information/things to think about). Wonderful post.

Thank you for your kind comments on my blog! (This is eric from vegangrub.com)

I am so very sorry to hear of what has happened. Its never an easy thing.

I think that, while a healthy lifestyle is no guarantee of a long life (although that happens more often than not!), but it does give a higher quality of life, however long that may be!

Good luck with everything and I look forward to reading more of your blog! Cheers!

Eric

Sorry to hear this! Cancer is such a scary thing...I can't imagine how awful it would be to have to fight something like that. He sounds like an amazing man.

I'm so sorry to hear about your father's friend. Thank you for reminding us all that life is unpredicable and we are not guaranteed our health. This is an excellant reminder that we shouldn't take our lives for granted.
