It was bound to happen

It was bound to happen. I have been running every day... well 5/6 days a week. I was doing three miles and last week I pumped it up to four miles per run... and I felt great! I have been seeing changes in my body, my stamina has increased considerably, and I just feel great....

Well yesterday while I was completing my last mile, my hip started to hurt. Im not really sure why... its a weird pain... I feel like its on the side of my hip.. which is strange because any pain ive ever had is in the joint/flexor... im nervous that its a stress related bone issue. Ok ok i know im being crazy and jumping to conclusions... but using my body is my means of income... without it IM SCREWED... so im nervous.

Today I started to run again.. got through two miles and had to stop... it was really painful. I am just so frustrated because I hate when I am unable to do something (physically)

I went for a long swim tonight to vent my frustrations (70 laps...one lap is one way there)...which made me feel great! but im still annoyed..

I guess this was bound to happen... my body has been taking to running so smoothly.. which has never happened... bahh.. (im a ball full of negativity right now clearly)

CHANGE OF SUBJECT!!!

So I have decided to up my raw food intake. When I did my raw week I felt amazing.. I had more energy, and I saw a difference in my body in only one week! I think that if I up my raw intake I can get back to a place where I want to be.

ON AN EXCITING NOTE:

Every season of Rockettes there is a LIST. This list contains names of girls who DO NOT have to audition for the next season and get offered a job again automatically..(I wont go into it too much) BUT.....

I MADE THE LIST!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WOOWEE!!!!! This means that I will DEFINITELY be going back on tour... or possibly New York? I dunno but I will be a Rockette again for the 2009-2010 season :) Im super proud of myself. Its a huge honor and shows that I worked hard and did a good job :) yay for me!!!

OK so now that I've gotten through my rants for the day... heres some FOOD!!!

My wonderful, beautiful, amazing mother whipped this tasty veggie soup for me. I had been craving something warm and lights and thats exactly what I needed.
Here are some chocolaty SUNBUTTER cups!!! I lined some SMALL cupcake pans with wax paper, filled them half with melted vegan chocolate chips, added a Dollop of SUNBUTTER and then topped it with more chocolate. Let them refrigerate overnight and BAM... amazing
So this is a salad of salads.. literally!!! I topped a bed of mixed greens with vegan coleslaw, bean salad, dolmas salad, avocado and crunchy sprout salad. I ended up eating half and giving the rest to my mom... we love the exact same foods so it works well :)

Today I had this... a vanilla hemp shake. I blended a banana, frozen peaches, 2 tbs hemp powder, vanilla extract and some rice milk.

OMG IM OBSESSED!!!!
(Im not sure if hemp protein powder is raw.. but im going to keep having it... along with rice milk)
and this was my dinner tonight... just a green salad with random veggies, sprouts, and sun flower seeds...
YUM YUM :)

Dont you love avocado..?? I cant live without it!

Ok.. tomorrow I'm going into the city for a voice lesson, a swim, and dinner with a friend I havent seen in forever!!!...and were going to a vegan restaurant!!! HORRAYYYY

Hope your feel better soon, Syn. I hate it when injuries keep me from doing something I love! You sound like a great swimmer, though. I'm definitely not a fast swimmer at all!

But congrats on the Rockettes! That is so amazing!

Your salad looks incredibly delicious. And those sunbutter cups look divine!

I no! I am so sorry to hear about your running injury. I've already had 2 injuries since I started running a year ago. No worries--I am sure you will heal soon:)

So right about avocado--I couldn't live without it!

No, I don't love avocados....I LOVE LOVE LOVE avocados. I really can't say it enough. I eat at least one a day...they are heaven.

Congratulations about being on the list, you deserve it, I'm sure. I am so happy and proud!

Sorry about your hip....I know you don't want to, but maybe stick to swimming for a while just to give it time to heal/rest.

I love your salads, they are always so massive and filled with healthy colorful foods.

Way to go on making the list!

Sorry about your hip. The same thing happened to me a few months ago (after i'd been ignoring the knee on the same leg) and I finally let myself rest for a few days and visit a sports med doc. The rest alone took care of the hip and the anti-inflammatory I was prescribed took care of the knee (mostly, still have some sore days).

Hang in there with your hip!! :-(

But congratulations on the list!! :-)

OMG that is sooooo exciting! Yay! Congrats on the fantastic news. You are on "the list"....so cool! As for the hip issue....I have mild scoliosis and my hips are off by a few centimeters so I go to the chiro every few weeks for adjustments and it helps a ton. Everytime I work out for long periods of time...long runs, etc my right hip starts to hurt really bad too. I would definately look at getting an x-ray or having the chiro measure your hip bones to see if they are off. That may be the problem, which is easily fixable :) Anyhoo.....I hope you feel better soon & enjoy your day :)

I'm not sure if hemp powder is raw, but you can get raw hemp seeds and they blend just fine in smoothies!

Woooo, congrats on making the list! That's awesome. And that smoothie. Love it.

Sorry your hip is hurting. It sucks whenever you have to switch what you do, but it's for the best. I'm debating swimming instead of the treadmill for my knees, but it's not the same. And if it still bothers you later on, I'd say def get it checked out. Better safe than sorry and all that.

Oh no! Hopefully, it'll heal if you take it easy for a few days. About two weeks ago, I noticed an annoying pain in my ankle during my cardio boxing class. But I refused to acknowledge it and kept going. The next day, it hurt worse. And then I took a spin class and I was almost in tears, but I wouldn't stop.

After that, I realized I was being stubborn. So I laid off for a few days and now it's fine.

Congrats on making the list!!!!! Maybe I'll see you on tour later this year since I couldn't catch last year's show.

I'm sorry to hear about your hip :( I hope it gets better soon.

Huge congrats on making the list!! That is fantastic news!

I don't know if all hemp protein is raw, but I know that in Ani's book (the only raw book I have, and love), she does say that it is raw, so...sounds good to me...but I think it tastes like dirt. Does this brand you are using taste decent?

Sorry to hear about the pain, what a ...well... pain. Ha. I had pain in my hip when I started to up my mileage a little while ago but it stayed pretty mild and eventually just disappeared once I lightened up my running a bit and took a couple days off. It hasn't come back since so you might be okay!

I can't wait to see more raw stuff! The foods in this post look amaaaaazing. LOVE the pb cups.

And HUGE congrats on making the Rockettes list, WOO!
