Pam Anderson... fighting for animal rights!

Ive never been a crazy fan of reality shows. Frankly I feel that they take jobs and opportunities away from actors who have trained and worked hard to be able to fill those slots on television shows. Well today when I turned on the television "Pam Girl on the Loose" was on. I immediatly rolled my eyes and thought.. good god another one!!!!
After running up stairs to get some cereal (yummy granola with rice milk  he he) I came down to a television full of picketers and PETA rights activists.
I Completely forgot that Pamela Anderson was a huge supporter of PETA and animal rights. Sometimes I feel that the protests and visuals that PETA gives us are overwhelming, but all in all I think they are a wonderful group.
Pam was protesting cruel and gruesome animal testing. I was surprised at the images that they were showing on television. Monkeys with their mouthes wide open in fear, Dogs being washed in chemical based shampoo, bunnies being injected with needless in their eye balls, and squealing mice being shocked and manipulated. These visions broke my heart, and reminded me why I have become, and sustained a vegan lifestyle.
I must admit, I originally became a vegan for the health reasons. I wanted to lose weight and I wanted to be as healthy as possible. I always had difficulty losing weight and keeping it off...veganism was the first time that it was easy, and also quite fun. I put my whole self into the lifestyle and saw instant results. My skin, immune system, energy, and stamina all increased, and I was a happier more satisfied Synthia.
Well along the way, I became increasingly aware of animal rights. I have always been a huge fan of animals. I gave up all red meat and pork at age seven because of the movie Babe!(im not sure why i kept eating chicken and turkey) Now I have read so many articles about the topic, and am truly passionate about animal rights.

it's pretty interesting all of the celebrities that PETA has gotten to raise awareness for their cause-- it breaks my heart to hear aout animal cruelty and i've tried to be a vegetarian many times, but couldn't stick to it!

Welcome back! Glad you had a great time doing your show :)

That article is interesting. I have to wonder where he got his degree from, as a lot of what he says doesn't seem to collaborate with anything I've heard from other doctors.

I do think that each person is unique, and one person might thrive on a certain diet, while another might not do well. We all have different needs.

I love Pam Anderson! She may be a big-boobed blonde bimbo, but she's got a great set of ethics! And hey, those big boobs grab people's attention.

Our animal rights group used to hold monthly anti-KFC demos and we had some PETA posters with Pam's face (and torso, can't leave out the boob-age). Those always got the most attention from people driving by.

I was actually at the vegan restuarant where Pamela had her
40th birthday, only a few weeks ago!
So sad to hear about all of the animaltesting :(

Just found your blog and I had to comment because I LOVE the Rockettes!! I danced for many many years and always wanted to be a Rockette, but my life has led me elsewhere. I really look forward to reading about your life as a Rockette and your cooking adventures!

I saw that episode also! That was so sad when they were showing the animals that were being tested! Poor little monkey!

Sure, Pamela Anderson is strange, what with her humungous fake boobs and 3-second weddings... but I still love her because she is such a terrific person to have on the side of the animals!

Hey there! The tattoo on my page is real. It's on my inner right wrist. I had it done last winter. I figured once I got vegan tattooed on me, it'd be for life...not that I doubted that I would stick with it. But you know, it felt like I was really solidifying my ethics or something.

I watched that episode too and was impressed that Pam found yet another way to bring important issues into the light. Good for her, she's not the blonde bimbo some people expect!

I always thought of Pam Anderson as some silly bimbo until I learned that she was an animal rights activist, You go Pam Anderson! Viva veganism!
